Today we find that many Christians have a hard time explaining why homosexuality is wrong and why marriage is not defined as being between two people of the same sex. It is pretty simple. Gay marriage is a contradiction in terms and in faith. Here are three points of proof.
Homosexuality is wrong because it is a sexual act that is a misuse of our God given bodies.
This is naturally evident in the fact that same sex procreation is not possible. Homosexuality is improper sexual activity, akin to fornication between heterosexuals or incest. It is quite different than the criminal acts of rape, pedophilia or bestiality, though all are sexual improprieties. Homosexuality between two consenting adults is not criminal, but it is immoral and Christians should not and will not condone immoral behavior. Christians have a right to practice their Christian beliefs in condemning immoral behavior.
Christians should not be forced to change their beliefs in order to be more secular and not be labeled discriminatory.
People who commit homosexual acts have experienced discrimination and violent outrage, but refusal by clergy to marry homosexuals cannot be defined as discriminatory because it is the clergy’s right to adhere to their religious beliefs. The individuals are not being discriminated against. Their actions and intentions are being condemned because it is defined as sin.
Marriage is a religious act, because it is an oath between individuals before God.
It is wholly enforceable by God. If one breaks the oath of marriage one is not punished by the law. The law has no jurisdiction. The punishment for breaking the oath of marriage is manifested spiritually. It is a matter of faith that one takes the oath of marriage. Therefore marriage, being a religious act of faith, cannot be between two individuals of the same sex because that is defined as sin by God. This definition of sin is also a matter of faith in God’s Word.
In conclusion:
We see the slippery slope that we are on with the fornication of the free love movement of the sixties being widely accepted today as morally ok. The homosexual movement of today will be widely accepted tomorrow. One can only assume that an incest movement is not far behind. It is time for the Church to be the Church and stand up for righteousness
